So you may heard that Mimi & Flo are going live at Comix in NYC on June 4th. We are very excited!! To celebrate, we've made a very special promo video featuring some special guests: Anne & Sydney of The Hazzards, Michael Cyril Creighton, and Becky Yamamoto. Extra special thanks to the absolutely amazing Kate Bazazian who is responsible for the transformations and Charlene Bos for supplying our costumer (aka Flo) with so many special wardrobe pieces. Time Out New York also just gave the show 4 stars, and selected it as a Critic's Pick. The show is half-way through it's run, so you only have through the weekend to catch it. Mimi & Flo Show guest star Michael Cyril Creighton appears in the show as well!

Same Dude won the Audience Award AND the Judge's Award at last Sunday's First Sundays Film Festival ! We couldn't believe it! To celebrate we went to the afterparty and participated in the live band Karaoke at Mo Pitkins. It was really fun. Unfortunately, the band didn't know Same Girl, but Jeff rocked out to some Guns 'n' Roses, and Frances (Mimi) brought the Cyndi Lauper.

Some refreshing news on the homefront... NEW EPISODES COMING VERY SOON! All of you ladies (and some of you men) will also be pleased to know that male model Wes Carnes (of Q Models) will be making his acting debut on The Mimi & Flo Show in the next round of episodes. Wes is not just a pretty face (which is not only a cliche, but an understatement). He has proven himself to be a fine actor with much promise. We look forward to more episodes with Wes, as we do have a few with him in the works for the next following launch.

They apparently have just unwrapped The Mimi & Flo Show; it being one of pop culture's hip and hidden treasures. If you go to Pop Candy, you can see Whitney Matheson's sweet little write-up about the show... right up at the top! She gallantly touches upon one of the finer points of the series, stating "It's nice to see a new serialized comedy enter the online universe -- especially one that features two female leads". On Set with Jackie "The Joke Man"

So, last night was very eventful night for The Mimi & Flo Show. Actor/Comedian Jackie "The Joke Man" Martling (best known from radio's Howard Stern Show and the film "The Aristocrats") was on set to play a character for one of the upcoming, top-secret episodes of The Mimi & Flo Show. Jackie, a huge Mimi & Flo fan, is just about one of the greatest guys you can imagine! Not only was his performance brilliant and hilarious, but he is a genuine sweetheart to know and work with. Stay tuned to The Mimi & Flo Show to see what happens!

How our show is made...

It's funny, super hi-tech and works like a Choose Yor Own Adventure... You already know all that. What about behind the scenes?
This show may be the first of it's kind in providing the viewer with an instant gratification of choosing the lead character's fate. It is no easy task to accomplish.
1) PRE-PRODUCTION: We begin our process in New York City. Hannah Bos (Actor/Writer/Producer), Frances Chewning (Actor/Writer/Producer/Co-Editor) and Jeff Maksym (Director/Writer/Producer/Cinematograper/Editor/Sound Designer/Etc) all meet up over donuts to hash out the plots, scripts and other craziness of the world of The Mimi & Flo Show.
2) PRODUCTION: After they get the plan hammered out, they make contacts through thier vast network of their most talented friends that will work for food. Once they've got a a schedule, a hand or two, and maybe an added cast member, they run out and shoot the scenes, by order of location, as needed for the script.
3) POST PRODUCTION: If it wasn't before, here is where it gets really interesting... and complicated. Half of the dailies (DV tapes containing the footage of the show) are shipped of to Los Angeles, California. There, Michelle Tesoro (Editor Extrodinaire) is waiting in a track-suit and a headband at her nearest FedEx location. Both Michelle and Jeff watch all of the tapes and digitize them so they can start editing the episodes (Frances also has her hand at cutting). Meanwhile, Nathan Lenkowski, the web designer is in Madrid, Spain formulating the specs of the site prior to getting the final product.
When Michelle has finished here episodes, she then sends them back to New York City, where Jeff can put on the final music and/or sound design as needed. When all of that is complete, the finished files are shipped off to Nathan who waits patiently in Speedos and a smoking-jacket. Nathan then does some black magic wizardry on the episodes and gets them all recompressed and ready for viewing over the World Wide Web. There is a trial test period and when all is ready, we launch.
It doesn't really end there, but you get the point.

1. People everywhere want to know: Is the fart in the elevator based on real experience?

Yes. Yes it is. There was no job on the line; merely a struggle between dignity and fair-play. I was leaving work, head, as usual, in the clouds. Alone in the elevator, it happened. Oooo. That's stinky. Lost in my reverie, I forgot to push the button for the first floor. Suddenly, I found the elevator travelling up. Oh no! What could I do? The doors opened to a pack of young men who worked on a different floor. If I left, they would know it was me. If I stayed, they might think that somebody before me did it? And I'd get out of the building sooner. I stayed. Down, down we went, until ding! The elevator stopped on MY floor again. The doors opened and a co-worker stepped on the elevator. As the pack talked with each other, my co-worker took the opportunity to lean over and make a joke about about the stink, gallantly assuming that, of course, I couldn't have been responsible for such an unpleasant odor. Little did he know me. What should I do? Could I allow myself to snicker, knowing full well that I was the one responsible? What would you have done?

2. People everywhere want to know: Who is Cousin Ronnie!? Well, the true secrets of Cousin Ronnie have yet to be revealed, but the actor playing him is actually the brilliant playwright Bixby Eilliot. Check out his theatre company, The Sum of Us , which is about to mount his newest play, Hotel Oracle. Rest assured, you will be seeing more of Cousin Ronnie in the future.
